Heribert Schacherl (born 1970 in Austria) is a photographer based in Lower Austria.
He studied applied photography at the University of Applied Sciences in St.Pölten (Austria) and has been active in all facets of photography for around 25 years, with a particular focus on panoramic photography.
This expertise has also led him to work on virtual reality projects for approximately 15 years.
For about two years, he has been running the #bubbles or #365littlebubblesofmelk project, which explores and visualizes the small worlds we inhabit.
The aim is to encourage viewers to reflect on their own “bubble” and consider how they can expand it to enhance their perception of others.
A central theme in his work is the way we perceive the world and its constant change. This is why he deliberately plays with light and shadow in various projects.
When working with people, his focus is on the presence of the self in the image—both that of the photographed person and the viewer, each within their own moment in time and space.
His work is about capturing existence, portraying it, observing it, discovering one’s own role within it, being moved by it, and recognizing differences.
